A Griffin-Spalding Historical Society Plaque symbolizes architectural and/or historical significance in our community.

Our plaque recognizes not only the importance of a property, it honors the people associated with that property. The award and ultimate purchase of a plaque constitutes an honor worth evaluating.

NOMINATION PROCESS FOR ARCHITECTURAL OR HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT PROPERTIES

Applying for a Griffin-Spalding Historical Society plaque is a simple process. The property must be 50 years of age and the owner complete the application, providing us with information on the history and significance of the property in question. Our knowledgeable staff will review the application and determine if the property meets our criteria for recognition. If it does, we will award it a plaque, which can be proudly displayed to share its significance with the community.  These plaques are ornamental only - they don’t protect or limit properties from demolition or renovation. Rather, they exist as symbols of significance to honor the events and people associated with that property.

Once awarded and purchased, a plaque must remain with the original address and is not transferable to another property.
