The Griffin-Spalding Historical Society owns and operates The Bailey-Tebault House located at 633 Meriwether Street in Griffin, GA. The beauty of this house is stunning. Recent renovations have made it even more so. With over 3,500 square feet of event space on the ground floor alone, this historic home is perfect for weddings, receptions, anniversary parties, office gatherings, showers, tea parties, and more.

An ideal location for your next event, The Bailey-Tebault House provides both indoor and outdoor areas for traditional wedding ceremonies and receptions. The house includes an upstairs bridal suite and a catering kitchen. The grounds offer a covered veranda, a brick patio, a 2,200 square foot garden, a barbeque pavilion, and plenty of parking.

The Bailey-Tebault house is considered one of the finest examples of antebellum Greek Revival architecture in the state. Construction began in 1859 and the completion delayed until 1862 due to the war. While the architect and builder’s names have been lost to history, the home is similar to several prominent homes near Susan Bailey’s childhood home in Milledgeville. The importance of the home has been confirmed by the National Register for Historic Preservation and noted as unique due to the addition of bedroom wings and the preservation of the outbuildings and slave quarters. In 1937, the National Park Service registered the house to the Historic American Buildings Survey, an honor reserved for the most important historic structures in the U.S and one of the few buildings in our area to receive that honor.
